Brisbane Airport is about 100km south of Nambour, so passengers travelling between the two destinations have some ground to cover. Nambour is located in the gateway of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, which means that its natural beauty is abundant and easily accessible. But there’s also a lot of history in the region. Nambour houses the heritage listed Moreton Central Sugar Mill, the Cane Tramway, and the Moreton Central Sugar Mills Workers’ Housing. Those building hark back to the days of sugar processing in the Nambour and Sunshine Coast region, and carry on the area’s strong legacy. For those with more modern inclinations, there’s the Nambour Civic Centre, which is the local arts and entertainment venue, and which hosts cinema, music, theatre, and other artistic ventures. There is also the Nambour Festival, which showcases the region’s strong musical talent, and offers stalls with local crafts and produce.
